Catalyst
Questions

Good questions, answered plainly.

No fine print where a clear sentence will do. If something here doesn't cover it, write to us — a real person reads it.

The basics

What is Catalyst?

An audio-first learning app. You pick a path — a short, ordered sequence of lessons on a single topic — and listen on your own schedule. The catalogue is curated and written to be heard, not scraped book summaries or a podcast back-catalogue.

How is it different from a podcast, an audiobook, or a course?

Podcasts ramble, audiobooks are long, and online courses mostly go unfinished. A Catalyst path is sequenced day by day, written specifically for listening, and short enough that finishing it is normal — not heroic.

How long are the lessons?

Most lessons run about ten to twenty minutes. You decide when, and how many — there's no schedule the app invented for you. Pick it up on the train, on a walk, while the coffee brews.

Who is it for?

People who want to keep learning and keep growing — and put what they learn to use in their work and their lives. If you have a stack of books you meant to finish and a commute you'd rather not spend scrolling, it's built for you.

Paths & generating your own

What does it mean to "generate" a path?

Tell Catalyst a topic you want to understand and it builds you a path on it — written, sequenced into days, and read aloud, the same standard as the curated ones. You set the length and the pace, and the path stays in your library.

What are generation credits?

Generating audio has a real cost, so it's metered in credits: one credit equals one minute of generated audio. Paid plans include a monthly allowance, and you can top up with credit packs whenever you like. The curated catalogue is never metered.

Who makes the curated content?

A small team. Every curated path is written and reviewed before it ships — no auto-published filler. The catalogue is the part we sweat over; generation is the part that lets you go beyond it.

Plans & payment

What does Catalyst cost?

Start free with a rotating set of introduction paths you can finish. The full curated catalogue is €7.99/mo. To generate your own paths, Learner is €17.99/mo and Professional is €29.99/mo, each with a monthly credit allowance. Credit packs are available on top.

What's in the free version?

Around five introduction paths that rotate each month, with full audio. Anything you start stays yours to finish, even after it rotates out of the free set. It's a real sample of the catalogue, not a locked demo.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancelling takes a couple of taps — no email, no retention maze, no questions asked.

Do you offer education or lower-income pricing?

If the price is the only thing in the way, write to info@catalystlearn.app with a sentence about your situation, and we'll work something out.

Devices & getting it

How do I get it?

Catalyst is built for iPhone and iPad, iOS 16 or later. There is no store listing to point you to yet. What is open now: Day 1 of Stoicism: Foundations, free to read and hear, plus the essays and the topic guides. Join the mailing list and we will write when a new path lands.

Is there an Android version?

Catalyst is on iPhone first. An Android version is planned — the quickest way to hear the moment it lands is to leave your email on the home page.

Can I read or listen on the web?

Day 1 of Stoicism is readable, with audio, at catalystlearn.app/lesson. The full library lives in the app.

Can I listen offline?

Yes. On the Catalogue plan and up, you can download paths and listen with no signal — on a flight, on the underground, anywhere.

Principles & trust

Do you use streaks or send pushy notifications?

No. Engagement on Catalyst comes from finishing things and getting better at them — not from a streak you're afraid to break or alerts you didn't ask for. You can set one gentle daily reminder if you want it, and nothing if you don't.

Do you run ads or sell my data?

Never. There are no ads, and we don't sell your data. We make money when the product is worth paying for — that's the whole model. See our privacy policy for the details.

Where do my notes and progress live?

On your device, and in your Catalyst account. Notes export to plain text and progress exports to a machine-readable file — no lock-in. You can take everything you've made with you, and ask us to delete it at any time. Our privacy policy spells out how.
